3 April 2008
UK travel industry team
runs for the Family Holiday
Association in the 2008 Flora London Marathon
The FHA is fielding a 25-strong
travel industry team in the Flora London Marathon on April 13, all
of whom have committed to raising £1,200 each for the charity which
provides UK breaks for families struggling to deal with difficult
circumstances.
The team, which aims to raise £30,000
this year, includes a strong TUI Travel contingent and has been
sponsored by Malaysia Tourism.
Razip Hasan, Director of Tourism
Malaysia, said that they were delighted to sponsor the Family
Holiday Association’s team.
“The FHA’s work, in providing
disadvantaged families with the chance of a deserving break,
highlights the importance of holidays that so many take for granted.
“As the majority of the team’s
runners are from within the travel sector, it is an apt environment
for us to offer support to.
“We look forward to hosting the post
race party at this very worthwhile event and offering a glimpse of
Malaysia as a caring holiday destination.”
FHA Director John McDonald said,
“We’ve got a fantastic team this year and we’re so grateful for the
support of Tourism Malaysia”.
“With their help, the team will raise
enough to give around 60 underprivileged families with young
children the chance to enjoy a break by the sea this summer.”

3 July 2006
Valiant hikers raise £15,000 for summer breaks!
Last
weekend a group of determined walkers from the
travel industry took on the challenge of reaching the top
ten peaks in the Peak District and raising lots of money to
fund holidays for disadvantaged families.

The
team from Thomson Holidays completed the first day in a
record breaking time
in order to catch most of the England world cup match
against Portugal despite the result they were able to pick
themselves up and complete the last three peaks on the
Sunday.
The
route took in some of the most incredibly beautiful
countryside in England but also some of its most exotic
landscapes of peat bog and incredible rock formations.
Everyone survived but there were some very nasty blisters
that required treatment.
One intrepid hiker landed ankle deep in the bog but, as you
might expect from someone from Orient Express, Pippa Isbell
managed to extricate herself gracefully from a tricky
situation. Others walkers from Harp Wallen, Event
Photography, National Express and Teletext all excelled
themselves and enjoyed a great weekend in a very hot and
sunny Peak District!
