Background
The FHA
is the only charity in the UK that specialises
in helping
provide holidays for families and children in need. Since its beginning in 1975,
when the charity was set up by Joan and Pat Laurance
(right), the FHA has helped over 100,000 parents, children and young people to have a holiday.
Pat Laurance passed away on 11 January 2008 aged 88.

Funding
About 2.2 million families, about 7m
children and parents - don't go on holiday each year,
because of poverty.
We estimate 1.5m million families cannot even afford
a day at the seaside.
The work of the FHA includes providing grants to families
towards the cost of their holiday; lobbying and
campaigning for greater awareness and working with other
like-minded organisations.
The FHA is funded at different levels by a wide range of people and organisations; made up of the following :

local groups in Rotherham, North London, Wolverhampton
and Sheffield
